Waggoner and Atwater anchor this survey of the agrarian landscape along the boundary between Macoupin and Montgomery Counties. The terrain is defined by a series of south-flowing drainages, including the meandering Macoupin Creek and Horse Creek, which carve through the grid of country roads and trails. This 2021 update preserves the locations of several small settlements and rural landmarks that have shaped the local identity for generations, such as Barnett, Honey Bend, and the community of Shop Creek.
