The Flint River carves a winding path through the borderlands of Dougherty, Mitchell, and Baker Counties, defining the agricultural and hydrographic character of this South Georgia landscape. In the southern portion of the sheet, the river forms a dramatic loop at Horseshoe Bend, surrounded by low-lying wetlands and riverine features like Buzzard Roost Island and Cowan Shoals. The topography is dotted with significant freshwater sources, including Wilson Blue Spring, Miller Springs, and the notably named Blue Hole Spring.
