The Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe railroad corridor dominates the northern reaches of this San Bernardino desert landscape, tracing a path through the arid flats between the mountains. The map identifies the small settlement of Bagdad and the former location of Trojan (Site), providing a mid-century view of these remote rail-dependent locales. Much of the southern and central terrain is dedicated to the Marine Corps Training Center, with the Naval Reservation Boundary clearly demarcated across the open wash.

Industrial and geological features are scattered throughout the quadrangle, including a Pipe Line running parallel to the tracks and several trails or jeep trails that push into the foothills.
