Noatak National Preserve encompasses the primary landscape of this northern Alaska region, where the terrain is defined by dramatic elevation changes and drainage systems. Flowing through the western portion of the quadrangle, Shiliak Cr provides a primary hydrological marker within this protected wilderness. The area is largely defined by its lack of human infrastructure, represented instead by the Public Land Survey System township and range boundaries including t21n r15w, t21n r14w, t20n r15w, and t20n r14w. This map captures the untouched character of the Northwest Arctic, where natural drainage patterns and the contour of the Baird Mountains dictate the geography of the preserve.
