Kobuk Valley National Park encompasses the southern half of this landscape, where the terrain is defined by the drainage systems of the western Arctic. The Salmon River flows southward through the eastern portion of the quadrangle, joined by the waters of Sheep Cr as it moves through the valley. To the west, the headwaters of Anaktok Cr cut through the high ridges, illustrating the complex hydrology of the Baird Mountains before these waters reach the larger river systems. This 2015 survey provides a precise record of the remote wilderness boundaries and natural watercourses within the Alaska-Northwest Arctic Borough, showing the intersection of federal protected lands with the established Public Land Survey System grids of t27n r5w and t26n r6w.
