The Desatoya Mountains dominate this high-altitude landscape on the border of Churchill and Lander Counties. This 2014 survey documents a region defined by its critical water sources and historic transit corridors, most notably the Old Overland Rd which cuts through the northern reaches of the Edwards Creek Valley. The terrain is deeply incised by numerous canyons, including Porter Canyon, Bassie Canyon, and Billie Canyon, each providing drainage for the high ridges.
