Little Pine Island Bayou and Pine Island Bayou dominate this coastal plain landscape along the border of Hardin and Jefferson Counties. The area is defined by a complex network of waterways and drainage features, including Grassy Pond Slough, Reeder Slough, and numerous named gullies such as Tenmile Gully and Coon Marsh Gully. These natural corridors frame the boundaries of the Big Thicket National Preserve, which occupies a significant portion of the central terrain.
