1971 Map of Big Falls Dam

USGS Topo · Published 1991

About this map

The Flambeau River carves through the central portion of this Rusk County quadrangle, where hydroelectric development defined the mid-century landscape. The Big Falls Dam and its accompanying powerplant maintain the Big Falls Flowage, which transitions downstream into the Dairyland Reservoir. These impoundments are bordered by extensive public lands, including the Flambeau River State Forest to the east and the Silvernail State Wildlife Management Area to the northwest.
