Straight Cliffs form a dramatic vertical boundary in this desert landscape, marking the edge of the Kaiparowits Plateau and Fifty-mile Mountain. The terrain is defined by complex drainage systems and erosion-carved features, including the intricate slot canyons of Peek-a-boo Canyon and Spooky Gulch. While much of the eastern portion of the sheet falls within the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, the western half highlights the steep ascent from Fifty-mile Bench toward West End Point. Water sources are sparse but critical in this arid environment, represented by named locations such as Big Hollow Spring, Listen Seep, and Cottonwood Spring. The map documents the natural hydrology of the area before modern shifts, focusing on the seasonal flows through Hurricane Wash and the prominent Coyote Gulch.
