Fiftymile Mountain dominates this portion of Kane County, defined by the dramatic and continuous escarpment of the Straight Cliffs. Surveyed in the late 1960s, the terrain illustrates a high plateau landscape where drainage systems like Basin Canyon and Willow Gulch carve deep into the sandstone. The layout of the land reveals a workspace for ranchers and surveyors, with isolated water sources such as Cat Well providing critical infrastructure in an arid environment. Transportation at this time was limited to a network of Jeep Trails and a traditional Upper (Pack) Trail, reflecting the area's relative isolation prior to modern development. The map also captures the transition from the broad expanse of Sunset Flat to the broken ground of the Washboard and the prominent lookout at West End Point.
