The Barracks defines this southern Utah landscape where the E Fork Virgin River carves through deep geological formations. This 2020 survey illustrates the transition between the high plateaus and the river's path, highlighted by the massive White Cliffs and the complex drainage of Parunuweap Canyon. The map covers the eastern margins of Zion National Park, including the modern engineering of the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway and the recreational access provided by the E Rim Trail. Away from the main transit corridors, the terrain is characterized by high flats and isolated points such as Poverty Flat and Bay Bill Point. The protected status of the Virgin Wild and Scenic River is clearly delineated, showing how contemporary conservation boundaries overlay the natural topography of Elephant Cove and Shunes Hollow.
