Agate and the southern outskirts of Bisbee anchor the northern reaches of this North Dakota landscape, where the prairie is organized by a strict grid of section lines and gravel roads. Located at the intersection of Rolette and Towner counties, the terrain is characterized by a high density of small wetlands and prairie potholes typical of the region. Family and community heritage is preserved in several small burial grounds scattered across the townships, including Teubner Cem, Halling Cem, and Zion Cem. These sites, along with the junction of three counties including Pierce County, reflect the early 20th-century settlement patterns of the northern plains, where small agricultural centers and rural cemeteries served widely dispersed farming families.
