Black Spring and several seasonal water sources anchor this remote portion of the Muddy District along the boundary of Big Horn and Rosebud counties. The landscape is defined by an intricate drainage system, where the N Fork Cottonwood Cr and S Fork Cottonwood Cr carve through the northern terrain. These headwaters eventually feed toward larger basins, while Rosebud Cr touches the southeastern corner of the map.
