Harris Peninsula dominates this coastal survey, reaching into the cold waters of Aialik Bay and the northern reaches of the Gulf of Alaska. The landscape is defined by the sharp intersection of terrestrial and marine ecosystems, much of which is protected within the Kenai Fjords National Park and the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge. Numerous inlets and coves, including Ripple Cove and Fire Cove, provide shelter along the jagged shoreline of the peninsula and its surrounding islands.
