The Sahwave Mountains dominate this high-desert landscape of Pershing County, where steep contours define a transition between rocky uplands and the broad, flat floor of Granite Springs Valley. Isolated water sources are critical features in this arid environment, evidenced by the presence of Bob Spring on the eastern slopes and South Juniper Spring tucked beneath the 7,000-foot heights of Juniper Mtn. The terrain is characterized by dramatic elevation changes, notably along Granite Springs Ridge on the western edge of the quadrangle. This 2018 survey documents the remote topography of the Great Basin, mapping the complex drainages and ridges that have historically challenged travel through this portion of Nevada.
