Boling and Newgulf serve as the primary population centers in this pocket of the Texas Gulf Coast, where the landscape is defined by the winding course of the San Bernard River. The river forms a meandering boundary between Wharton and Fort Bend counties, flanked by low-lying wetlands such as Cypress Slough, Turkey Slough, and Horseshoe Slough. These hydrologic features, alongside Peach Cr and Caney Cr, illustrate the complex drainage patterns typical of the region.
