The White River and Kings River headwaters emerge from the deeply dissected high country of the Ozark National Forest on this 2024 survey. The terrain is defined by a dense network of steep hollows, such as Spoke Plant Hollow, Clifty Hollow, and Eldridge Hollow, which descend from high ridges like Smith Ridge. Small communities and scattered homesteads cling to these ridges and narrow valleys, including the settlements of Boston, Red Star, and Arbaugh.
