The Lost River Range dominates the western portion of this high-altitude landscape, where the headwaters of several major drainages converge. Within the protected boundaries of the Challis National Forest, the Pahsimeroi River is fed by the West Fork and East Fork, creating a complex riparian network at the base of steep canyon walls. The eastern half of the map transition into the Burnt Creek drainage, which includes the remote Burnt Cr Lake.
