Butler Butte and Grassy Range rise as defining landmarks along the boundary of Jackson and Douglas Counties in the late twenty-teens. This timber-rich landscape is managed primarily through the Umpqua National Forest and Rogue River National Forest, where a complex network of forest development roads, such as Nat For Dev RD 2980 and Nat For Dev RD 30, provides access to the high-elevation terrain.
