Foreston sits at the northern edge of this coastal plain landscape, where the geography is defined by a dense network of Carolina bays and blackwater swamps. The southern boundary is marked by the winding course of the Santee River, which separates Clarendon and Williamsburg counties from Berkeley County. This river corridor is characterized by numerous oxbow lakes and side channels, including Cahusac Lake, Little Solomon Lake, and Franks Lake.
