The Goose River creates a meandering path through this Red River Valley landscape, its tight oxbows defining the geography of Traill County. Near a sharp northward bend in the river sits the community of Caledonia, a location established as a river port and ferry crossing point before the expansion of railroads through the region. This 2024 survey depicts the enduring grid of the townsite and the nearby Caledonia Cem, located just east of the main settlement area.
