Canton and the surrounding Fillmore County countryside are defined by a complex network of valley-carving streams and ridges just north of the Iowa state line. The landscape is dotted with small, historic hamlets and religious landmarks, including the Henrytown Lutheran Cem near the settlement of Henrytown and the Amish Cem located west of Sorenson Cr. These sites, along with others like the Lenora Cem in Lenora and the Calvary Cem north of Canton, suggest a deeply rooted rural community with diverse denominational histories.
