The Kettle River carves a winding path through the heart of this Pine County landscape, defining the boundaries of extensive public lands in the early 1980s. Large portions of the terrain are dedicated to the Chengwatana State Forest and St Croix State Park, where a network of snowmobile trails weaves through the wetlands and forests. The settlement of Crosby appears near the eastern edge, while the landscape to the west is dotted with smaller water bodies like Cedar Lake and Cedar Creek.
