About this map

Antelope Sand Canyon dominates the central topography of this mid-1960s landscape in southern Dawes County. The terrain is defined by the drainage patterns of Pepper Creek and Pebble Creek, which cut through the high plains south of Chadron. Evidence of rural infrastructure and land management is visible in the presence of a Substation and the designated area of Craig in the southern portion of the quadrangle. Published as part of the Department of the Interior's Missouri River Basin development program, the map documents a transition in the region's agricultural and utility footprint, recording the precise section lines and elevations during a period of modernizing rural electrification and water management in the Nebraska panhandle.
