The Antelope Range and the Fish Creek Range dominate this remote Nevada landscape, where the border between Eureka County and Nye County follows an arbitrary line through desert basins and high peaks. Survival in this arid environment is historically tied to a network of seasonal water sources, most notably Cockalorum Spring and Wild Horse Spring. The terrain is deeply carved by intermittent drainage systems like Ninemile Canyon and Davis Canyon, which channel runoff toward the broader Cockalorum Wash.
