Coffee Flats sits at the heart of this rangeland landscape along the South Dakota and Wyoming border. This high-plains terrain is defined by a dense network of seasonal drainages, including the branching reaches of Little Cottonwood Cr and Cottonwood Cr, which carve through the land alongside E Mule Cr. The geography is further characterized by numerous named topographic depressions and natural watercourses, such as Hollingsworth Draw, Coyote Draw, and Sheep Draw.
