The Milk River meanders through the heart of this Phillips County landscape, anchoring a network of water management features and ranching homesteads. Near the center of the sheet, the small settlement of Cole sits adjacent to the Cole Ponds and just north of the river, while the Robinson Ranch occupies the southeastern reaches. This area is defined by the transition from river bottomlands to the breaks of the surrounding coulees, including the notable Hymer Coulee and Porcupine Coulee.
