About this map

College Corner straddles the western edge of Preble County, serving as a focal point along the Indiana-Ohio Boundary Line during the early twentieth century. This preliminary edition highlights the developed eastern fringe of the quadrangle while much of the western portion remains an unsurveyed area. Settlement patterns follow the established transport corridors, most notably the Cincinnati Indianapolis and Western railroad and the Hamilton and Richmond Road. Local rural life is evidenced by School No 3 and small villages like Fairhaven and West Florence. The landscape is defined by a network of small waterways including Fourmile Creek, Harkers Run, and the mineral waters of Tallawanda Springs, which were significant landmarks for local residents before the mid-century expansion of regional infrastructure.
