1968 Map of Cooper Ridge

About this map

Cooper Ridge defines the high ground between the Wenatchee National Forest and Okanogan National Forest in this 1968 study, photorevised in the late 1980s. The landscape transitions from the high peaks of Goff Peak and Washington Butte in the north to the agricultural and residential outskirts of Chelan to the south. Along the southern edge near the shores of Lake Chelan, a network of named local roads including Swartout Rd, Klare Road, and Winesap Road suggests an area shaped by orcharding and early rural development. The infrastructure of the era is evident through a Ski Lift near Cooper Road, an Aqueduct traversing the western slopes, and scattered water resources like Swanson Gulch and Antoine Creek that drain the timbered ridges into the surrounding valleys.
