Copper Mtn and Gallagher Peak dominate this high-altitude landscape along the border of Lemhi and Clark Counties. The area is characterized by a dense network of drainage systems, including the deep cuts of Skull Canyon, Goddard Canyon, and Gallagher Canyon which descend from the higher peaks. The high-desert wilderness of the Targhee National Forest shows minimal human imprint outside of the Skull Mine and the rugged Long Canyon Rd. Landform names like Horse Ridge and Bluebird Mtn reflect the local geography, while rare water sources such as Blue Canyon Spring provide critical points of interest in an otherwise arid and vertically challenging terrain.
