The coastline of Lake Michigan defines this portion of Van Buren County, where sandy bluffs and dunes rise toward landmarks like Thunder Mtn. Along the shore, a string of established resort communities and residential enclaves such as Palisades Park, Linden Hills, and Crystal Beach are connected by the Blue Star Memorial Hwy. This corridor serves as a primary north-south artery between the southern edge of South Haven and the interior settlement of Covert.

Further inland, the landscape transitions to a network of agricultural plots and small crossroads. Local history is preserved in several rural burial grounds, including Covert Cem, Fish Cem, and the Emmanuel Home Cem. The drainage of the area is managed by several small waterways, notably Brandywine Cr and Deerlick Cr, which carve through the terrain before reaching the lake. The presence of the South Haven Area Regional Airport near the northern boundary indicates the region's continued role as a gateway for the Lake Michigan shoreline.
