Cricket Flat and the surrounding high country of Union County are defined by a complex network of drainage basins and family-named landmarks. The landscape is dominated by the upper reaches of Clark Creek, with its North Fork and Middle Fork carving through the terrain south of Elk Flat. Historical land use is evident in the series of upland water resources, including Waller Reservoir 6, Waller Reservoir 4, and Waller Reservoir 3 located near the northeastern heights of Minam Summit.
