Cross City anchors the southwestern corner of this landscape, where the Cross City Airport and the Airport Canal mark the transition from the town center to the surrounding wetlands and timberlands. The terrain is defined by an intricate network of low-lying basins and water bodies, including Tenmile Prairie and Delaney Prairie to the northeast. These limestone-influenced wetlands are dotted with numerous named features such as Adams Lake, Buck Pond, and Ocean Pond, which reflect the karst topography typical of this part of Florida.
