Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument occupies the southwestern corner of this quadrangle, preserving the terrain of one of the most significant historical sites in Big Horn County. The landscape is defined by the Medicine Tail Coulee and the winding course of Medicine Tail Cr, features that were central to the tactical movements during the 1876 conflict. North and east of the monument, the high plains are dissected by a network of drainages including Custer Cr, Ash Cr, and Willow Cr, showing the complex topography that transitions toward the Little Bighorn Valley. Us-212 cuts diagonally across the center of the sheet, providing modern access through this historically significant area while following the natural corridors of the high prairie. The map illustrates the sparsely populated nature of the region, focusing on the preservation of the battlefield and the natural watercourses that have shaped its human history.
