Targhee National Forest encompasses much of this high volcanic landscape in eastern Idaho, where a series of prominent rises like Crystal Butte and Monument Butte dominate the horizon. The drainage patterns are defined by seasonal water bodies, most notably the chain of three Davis Lake Number One, Davis Lake Number Two, and Davis Lake Number Three situated in the northern sections. This 2024 survey documents a network of forest roads and fire tracks, including the Bishop Burn and Fogg Butte Rd, which provide access to this isolated terrain.
