About this map

The Sulphur River meanders along the southern border of this Northeast Texas landscape, forming the natural boundary between Red River Co and Titus Co. The river valley is defined by complex hydrological features, including Cottonwood Slough, Sanders Slough, and numerous small bodies of water such as Horseshoe Lake, Timber Lake, and Stout Lake. These features reflect a classic bottomland environment where shifting river courses have left behind distinctive oxbows and marshy depressions.
