Buffalo Lake sits at the center of this high plains landscape, where the border between Quay Co and Curry Co is defined by a series of dramatic geographic shifts. The northern half of the map is dominated by the prominent elevation of Park Hill and its neighbor Little Park Hill, punctuated by Round Mountain. This upland area is deeply carved by several drainage systems, including Taylor Canyon, Rusk Canyon, and the map's namesake, Day Canyon.
