The Swift Co Kandiyohi Co boundary bisects this landscape of glacial prairie potholes and scattered wetlands in western Minnesota. A network of rural section-line roads, including Kandi Swift Rd and Co Rd 93, connects isolated family cemeteries and community landmarks. The area around Monson Lake contains several historically significant sites, most notably the Monson Lake Church Cem, which reflects the early Scandinavian settlement patterns of the region. Water management is a defining characteristic of the terrain, visible in the engineering of County Ditch Number One and the Hollerberg Floodway. These features illustrate the transformation of the prairie into productive farmland. Smaller water bodies like Lake Frank and Sunburg Lake dot the landscape, flanked by smaller burial grounds such as Spring Creek Cem and Frank Lake Cem.
