About this map

The glaciated prairie landscape of western Minnesota is defined here by a dense network of water bodies and conservation lands straddling the border of Swift and Kandiyohi Counties. Organized around the townships of Kerkhoven and Hayes, the area shows a distinct pattern of rural community life centered on isolated landmarks such as the Townhall and several country congregations including Frank Lake Ch and Spring Creek Ch. Large portions of the terrain are dedicated to wildlife preservation, notably the Camp Kerk State Wildlife Management Area and the Monson State Wildlife Management Area.
