About this map

Bayou de Loutre meanders through this Union Parish landscape, carving a path through a terrain defined by its complex drainage network and fossil fuel extraction. In the late 1980s, the area around De Loutre and Quigley was characterized by an extensive Gas Field, with numerous gas wells and a Pumping Station connected by a web of pipelines. The presence of an Old RR Grade south of De Loutre suggests earlier transportation patterns that once served the rural economy of north-central Louisiana.
