The Strait of Juan de Fuca defines the northern edge of this coastal landscape, where the Lyre River and several small creeks meet the shoreline. Near Low Point, the terrain shifts from Shale and Boulders to an expansive Tidal Flat. Settlement patterns are sparse, centered primarily around the Gettysburg Ranch and the small station at Disque.

Tracing the inland topography reveals the route of an Old Railroad Grade that winds through the hills above the coast, following the natural contours near Whiskey Creek. The network of drainage, including Murdock Creek, Shadow Creek, and Susie Creek, illustrates the complex hydrology of this part of Clallam County. This survey, based on 1940s photography and checked in 1950, records the early logging-era infrastructure and rural ranch holdings before late-century changes.
