The East Fork Hood Wild and Scenic River carves a deep central corridor through this section of the Mount Hood National Forest, defining a landscape of high ridges and isolated meadows. The eastern portion is dominated by Surveyers Ridge and the heights of Shellrock Mtn, while the western slopes rise toward the Bluegrass Ridge and the glacial drainages of Polallie Cr. This area is characterized by a high density of named springs and falls, such as Tamanawas Falls and Gibson Spring, which feed the complex network of creeks including Trout Cr and Evans Cr.
