Virginia and Downey anchor the eastern edge of this landscape, situated along the corridor of the Portneuf Marsh Valley Canal and Marsh Cr. The terrain transitions from the low-lying wetlands of Marsh Valley, where Wiregrass Reservoir manages the local water table, into the higher elevations of the Caribou National Forest to the southwest. This area is characterized by a complex network of canyons and drainage systems, including Mines Canyon and Rowley Canyon, which cut through the western ridges.
