Marsh Valley serves as the central corridor for this part of Bannock County, where the meandering course of Marsh Creek and the Portneuf Marsh Valley Canal support a landscape of managed water and high-altitude ranching. The small settlements of Downey and Virginia anchor the valley, connected by a network of rural roads such as Old US Hwy 91 and Tool Rd. To the west, the terrain rises sharply into the Caribou National Forest, where deep incisions like Mines Canyon and Rowley Canyon drain the highlands.
