Dugway Range dominates this corner of the Great Salt Lake Desert, where the rugged topography of Dugway Ridge rises sharply between the arid basins of Dugway Valley and Green Grass Valley. The landscape is defined by deep incisions like Fandangle Canyon, Engelmann Canyon, and Fera Canyon, which channel seasonal runoff toward the desert floor. The border between Tooele and Juab counties cuts through these high ridges, marking a remote boundary in the West Desert. Human presence is dictated by water and transit, evidenced by the lone Monument Reservoir and the network of specialized routes such as the Simpson Springs-Callao Rd and the Dugway Pass Gravel Pit Rd 2. This survey illustrates the challenging terrain that shaped early regional travel and ranching access in western Utah.
