Dulce Draw and Sacate Draw define the drainage patterns across this high desert landscape, which straddles the boundary between Socorro County and Lincoln County. In the early 1980s, this area was a network of remote ranching infrastructure, characterized by numerous named water features such as Dulce Windmill, Largo Windmill, and New East Windmill. These sites, along with tanks like East Well Tank and Wilson Tank, provided critical water sources in a terrain marked by the prominent Cat Head mesa and deep incisions like Pinatosa Canyon.
