The Fortymile River and its South Fork Fortymile River drain a high-elevation landscape defined by deep drainages and remote prospecting sites in the Southeast Fairbanks Census Area. This 2018 survey documents the enduring path of the Taylor Highway as it winds through the southern portion of the quadrangle near Wade Cr and George Cr. The terrain is characterized by numerous small tributaries and gulches, including U.S. Gulch and Uhler Cr, that have long been associated with the region's mining history.
