Edgerton and the nearby crossroads of Clearfield sit along the dividing line of Douglas and Johnson Counties, where a grid of rural roads connects scattered farmsteads and historic burial grounds. The landscape is defined by the headwaters of numerous creeks, including Captain Cr and Wymore Cr, which carve gentle valleys through the prairie. This 2015 survey preserves the locations of several community cemeteries that point to nineteenth-century settlement patterns, such as Black Jack Cem and the Old Black Jack Cem near the southern border.
