Evans Creek flows through this high-desert landscape along the Indefinite Boundary between Humboldt and Elko counties. The 1980s ranching environment is centered on reliable water sources, most notably the Lower Clover Ranch in the north and Hot Springs Ranch further south. These outposts, connected by a network of 4wd tracks, reflect the essential infrastructure of the Great Basin, where thermal activity is visible at several points including Spring (Hot) and Springs (Hot).
