The high-country borderlands of Idaho and Wyoming are defined here by the Gannett Hills and the expansive Elk Valley. This remote mountainous terrain is divided between the Caribou National Forest to the west and the Bridger National Forest to the east, with the State Line cutting a straight vertical path through the drainage basins of the Salt River and Bear River watersheds. High-altitude landmarks such as The Pinnacle and Clover Knoll overlook a dense network of seasonal drainages, including Spring Creek (West Side) and the headwaters of Robinson Creek.
